Dear Ford County Resident,
As part of the Iron Star Wind Project, we will be improving a section of Ridge Road between Hwy 283 and 108th Road to support the additional traffic that our construction project will require. We realize that this road improvement will present an inconvenience, in which we are doing our best to limit this. We are planning to close Ridge Road between 108th and 110th on Monday 11/09/2020. This closure will be to all but our construction vehicles as we will be working on both sides of Ridge Road simultaneously. This section will continue to be closed through Thursday morning to allow the cement being added to the roadway to properly cure. Our plan on Wednesday 11/11/2020 is to work on one side of Ridge Road between 110th Road and Hwy 283 at a time to allow for local homeowners and landowners to be able to enter and leave this area. We will have staggered barricades on the west side of the intersection of HWY 283 and Ridge Road that local landowners will be able to drive around, but the signs will state that the road is closed.
The section of Ridge Road between Hwy 283 and 108th Road will stay closed through Thursday morning 11/012/2020 to allow for the cement to cure. We will start spreading a cover material similar to what is currently on Ridge Road on Monday morning. Once this is complete you will be able to drive on Ridge road as normal. The cement we will be using is a powdered cement and is spread on the road via a large spreader truck directly to the road surface. Once placed on the road, this powder is mixed into the road surface then immediately packed and rolled. There may be some dust from the spreading activity, but this should be minimal. Out of an abundance of caution, we are requesting that you give this activity plenty of space so as not to breathe this dust. This will be a dry cement, and there will not be any harm to your vehicle when you have to drive on it. Additionally, while the cement cures, we are requesting that 1 ton gross weight vehicles or lighter be the only traffic on Ridge Road. If you require driving a larger vehicle on Ridge Road during this time or have any other questions, please contact Brian Fry at (620) 282-0891
The section of road between Hwy 283 and 112th Road will be shut down for a few hours on Monday morning 11/09/20 as our crews install a temporary bridge over the existing bridge to support the heavier loads our project will provide. We will have barricades up showing this section is closed and once the installation is complete, you may travel this road as normal. . Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
